Feeling Strong, Dundee’s youth-led Mental Health and Wellbeing charity, celebrated its First Birthday Party at the DCA this week, reflecting on the rapid growth of the charity and the potential to make a wide impact in the city going forward. Sponsored by Skills Development Scotland’s Dundee Branch and Red Pepper Events, the event saw 70 attendees from a range of backgrounds come together to recognise the achievements of staff and volunteers, celebrate  the projects, services and campaigns running so far, and to learn about future developments.

Brook Marshall, Project Director of Feeling Strong commented: “I am so proud of the progress that has been made by our team over the last year to support and develop some of Dundee’s  most vulnerable young people. We’ve grown very quickly, and it’s all down to the hard work of  our partners, trustees, volunteers, staff and most importantly the hundreds of young people  we’ve meaningfully engaged this year. Feeling Strong aims to give everyone we work with a  chance to overcome their barriers and flourish, and I’m overjoyed that we are playing an active  role in our community to make that happen”.

Convener of City Development, Cllr Lynne Short, added:”I am incredibly proud that Feeling  Strong came to me in their early days for support and it's been so rewarding to watch the  charity grow! Working with young people in our city mirrors the commitment that we all feel  towards the bairns”.

Feeling Strong

Feeling Strong is an exciting new Dundee-based charity with the ambition to improve the lives of young people living with mental health conditions by fostering the skills, confidence and aspirations they need to flourish. We deliver services and activity in the community to provide opportunities for our service users in the areas of lobbying, skills development and service co-production.
