Business Management Work Experience: Developing Students Contributing to Business

The School of Business, Law and Social Sciences at Abertay are looking for employers to participate in a placement initiative aimed at providing 3rd year Students on the following BA (Hons) programmes: Business & Management; Business and HRM; Marketing & Business and Accounting and Finance with real life work experience.

In return it is hoped that they will be able to make a meaningful contribution to your business. The idea is that they join your company for 1 day a week for 10 weeks (preferably a Wednesday) to put their knowledge and skills into practice, so as 

•          to develop the skills and behaviours required by Business Managers 

•          to gain experience through project work or shadowing

•          to report on a current Management/Business issue identified by the student and/or the placement provider

FAQs

Will I need to pay the student?

  • No, these are unpaid placements

What is the duration?

  • The placement has been devised to take place for 1 day (Wednesday preferably) per week for 10 weeks although there may be the opportunity to carry out the placement 2 days/week for 5 weeks (timetable allowing)

When will the placements take place?

  • Placements will take place w/b January 20th  2020 to March 27th 2020 (inclusive)

What do I have to do?

  • Have organisational premises
  • Have Public Liability Insurance; Employer Liability Insurance; a Health and Safety Policy
  • Organise meaningful tasks or a possible project for the student to work on and support the student while on placement.
