Bring Your Child to Work Day is an annual national campaign, but how can you take part during this period of lockdown?
Developing the Young Workforce has come up with the solution with Bring Your Child to Work Day – Home Edition! On Thursday 23rd April, home workers across the land will be getting their children involved in their working day, to give them an insight into different careers and the world of work.
Developing the Young Workforce is a national, Scottish Government funded initiative that brings together industry and education. The aim is for businesses to support schools and colleges to inspire young people about future careers and ensure that they have the skills and knowledge they need to enter the world of work. Now, more than ever, it is vital that young people have a plan of what they want to do when they leave education and know what their options are.
The team at DYW Dundee & Angus is hoping that a whole range of home workers will participate in Bring Your Child To Work Day – Home Edition, and showcase some of the great careers in the local area, whilst also giving something for young people to do! Taking part is easy:
• On Thursday 23rd April, post a photograph of you and your children working at home on Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn, with brief details of what you are doing. Remember to use the hashtags #DYWChildtoWork and #DYW_DA.
• If you don’t use social media but want to be involved, email your photo to contact@dywda.co.uk and we will share it on your behalf.
• Download the certificate from the DYW Dundee & Angus website ( www.dywda.co.uk/bring-your-child-to-work ),fill in the details and present to your children! Alternatively you can email the team at contact@dywda.co.uk and we will send you a copy.
Involving young people in what you do during your work day could inspire and raise awareness of the world of work.
