The 150th Open 2022: Priority access to hospitality for DACC members

In July 2022, The Open Championship will return to the Home of Golf to celebrate The 150th Open. St. Andrews will be host to the world’s best golfers competing to become the Champion Golfer of the Year at golf’s original Major.

As you may know, The R&A invests profits made at The Open back into the game, as well as protecting our spectators, we want to protect our purpose of ensuring the game is thriving 50 years from now.

We are delighted to give you direct access to Origins, the official hospitality experiences at The 150th Open.

We are offering members of The Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce a priority window before we go on general sale between 17th of September and 1st of October.

If you would like further information on the experiences, please speak with Glen Gardiner at The R&A on 01334 460228 or email glengardiner@theopen.com. You can also explore www.TheOpen.com/Hospitality

Please also look out for unauthorised organisations targeting businesses in the region in an attempt to sell unofficial, off-course hospitality to the Championship. These organisations do not have access to purchase entry tickets to The Open, leaving the customer outside of the venue.

Organisations looking to sell unauthorised hospitality often use the same sales tactics, which will help you identify them. If you are contacted about hospitality at The Open the key things you should look out for are:

• "We have had a cancellation"
• A half or “special” price offer
• Pressure tactics – i.e. "you must confirm today"
• No written confirmation of the facility location
• No written confirmation of access / tickets into the Championship

If you or any of your members are contacted by a company trying to sell hospitality to the Championship please either ask for their credentials as one of The Open’s Authorised Providers or contact The R&A directly for confirmation.

We have implemented various strategies to help combat these unofficial organisations such as:

• The introduction of a no re-admission policy
• Moving to an all ticket event, where tickets must be purchased in advance and are not available on the gate
• The Introduction of an Authorised Provider Programme for hospitality and ticket packages
Any tickets made available on websites such as Viagogo, Safetickets.net, Stubhub, eBay and Gumtree are done so without the permission of The R&A and are subject to unregulated pricing, and as such, are likely to be refused entry to the Championship.

We urge all individuals and companies to do their due diligence prior to purchasing any tickets and hospitality packages as we want to ensure all of those who attend The Open have the best experience possible.
