An App which will take families on a Solar System Trail around Dundee has been unveiled, marking the start of Dundee Science Festival.

Regardless of where they live, children and adults alike can explore the solar system while going on a walk around the city. By clicking on QR codes positioned on lamppost banners at various landmarks - starting at the Science Centre, through the city centre, Dudhope Park and up to the Law Hill - visitors can explore the fascinating facts of our planets.

The app can be downloaded at https://www.dundeesciencefestival.org/

Dundee Science Festival, which will run from 9 to 29 November 2020, will be divided into three themes – Space and Climate, Life Sciences and Human and Engineering and Technology.

The first week, which will see the launch of the Solar System Trail, will also offer a range of online games, shows, talks and demos for early years children through to adults. With input from Royal Observatory Edinburgh and various universities, visitors can explore the relationship between Space and our climate, learn about the growing UK space industry and discover how we can do our part.

Carlene Cura, Development and Fundraising Advisor, Dundee Science Centre said, “Now more than ever, there’s a real appetite from families to keep their children entertained and engaged so we are absolutely delighted to bring Dundee Science Festival back to the city.

“Science is everywhere, indoors and out and there’s plenty to explore wherever you are. As well as the city-wide trail which will give families a fun focus to their weekend or evening stroll, we’ve also lined up some great online activities to enjoy in the comfort of your own home. We’re sure there’s something for everyone so come along, log on and get involved!”
