Creating Safe Spaces for Diverse Conversations

This event is a culmination of several partners to serve a shared purpose - a safe space to have important conversations and celebrate our rich and diverse cultures in Scotland.

We are honored to relaunch SYMBL CIC, a social enterprise that supports Third Culture Individuals, to introduce Inspiring 50, African Women to Scotland and to celebrate International Cultural Diversity Dialogues & Development Day as outlined by the United Nations.

We have chosen to host this event in Dundee, as we believe that this city has the capacity and drive to be world leaders in Cultural Intelligence.

The day provides us with an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the values of cultural diversity and to advance the four goals of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions adopted on 20 October 2005:

  • Support sustainable systems of governance for culture
  • Achieve a balanced flow of cultural goods and services and increase mobility of artists and cultural professionals
  • Integrate culture in sustainable development frameworks
  • Promote human rights and fundamental freedoms

This event is being organised by SYMBL CIC, a DACC Member on a mission to inspire unity and belonging between all people, regardless of gender, race, age, status, or country of birth – because we are all humans first. Our beliefs are simple; if we can influence or change just one person’s life or mindset then that qualifies as a success and is worth celebrating.

SYMBL CIC has a bold vision: “to create a world where every individual feels like they belong, no matter where they come from.” They believe that diversity, inclusivity, and equality are not just buzzwords, but fundamental values that can transform the way we live, work, and interact with each other.

To inspire individuals and companies to become global leaders through the lens of cultural intelligence, and to harness the power of play, authenticity, courage, entrepreneurship, innovation, education, sustainability, inclusivity, and diversity to achieve this goal.
