Continued expansion for Dundee & Angus College as they remain committed to Economic Recover.

As D&A College continue to forge forward with their promise to support the business community to recover from this pandemic they welcome another new skills advisor to the newly formed Business Partnership Team.

Cursty Mackin joins the team having recently relocated from Aberdeen where she worked as a commercial officer with Robert Gordon University.  Cursty is no stranger to pairing industry with academia and has a wealth of experience in supporting business to identify their current and future skills gaps and offering tailored growth solutions through skills provision.

Cursty said ‘having relocated from Aberdeen I am looking forward to bringing my learning and experience from my previous position to support the Businesses of Dundee and Angus. I am an advocate for the education sector and truly believe that when we bring industry and academia together incredible things can happen.  We have ambitious plans within the team and I am delighted to join at the beginning of the journey so I can help shape and define our offering.'

With emerging sectors and advancing technologies D&A College recognise they must work closely with industry to ensure their offering is aligned with industry and sector needs and that they are actively encouraging individuals to reskill or upskill into key growth sectors.

Caryn Gibson, Economics Partnership Manager said ‘I am delighted to welcome Cursty on board to our Business Partnerships Team.  The team is shaping up nicely with a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience that will be an asset to not just the college but also the business community.  We have bold and ambitious plans for the college and are dedicated to supporting our region with the skills provision that it needs to not just recover but continue to grow thereafter.

There is lots of exciting things happening at the moment, our Electric Vehicle training school in partnership with Rab Lawson Ltd is now up and running and we have welcomed our first batch of students through the door.  Our MSIP Skills Academy and advanced manufacturing school is nearing completion and we are working hard in the background developing new advanced courses in areas such as Wind, Hydrogen, Heat Pumps, Insulation and advanced and automation manufacturing to ensure we have a first class offering to reskill and upskill individuals and businesses in growth sectors.
It’s incredibly exciting times’
