Angus creative agency Due North Creatives welcomes new digital content creator to growing team

Angus-based marketing and communications agency, Due North Creatives, has welcomed a new digital content creator to its growing team in order to continue helping a variety of local businesses achieve success through marketing.

Louise Barrie, a graphic designer who honed her craft at the renowned Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design and who previously worked at DC Thomson, brings 13 plus years of experience to the creative agency, allowing the business to expand and increase its capacity for project and retainer client work in the Aberdeenshire, Angus and Tayside region.

“It’s been an incredible first six weeks already,” states Broughty Ferry born and raised Louise. “I’m looking forward to being able to contribute my graphic design expertise to the team but also being able to explore and grow skills in other areas of the marketing world such as website design and account management.”

Due North Creatives has been on a promising growth trajectory with three full-time digital content creators having been hired last year in the Angus and Aberdeenshire area. With Louise’s new role, the remote agency’s total headcount now comes to eight with seven full-time employees and one part-time contractor.

The business, which celebrated its 7th birthday on 1st May, started in 2016 after Montrose-resident and founder, Amanda Inglis, was made redundant from her role at an Aberdeen company. Not dissimilar to the current pressures on working mothers, the main goal of starting the business for Amanda was to cover childcare costs and wanting to work closer to home.

“Due North started around my kitchen table during maternity leave with the first goal being to cover nursery costs. I wasn’t really sure what the business would become, I just loved helping local business owners to thrive with their marketing and business development, and overcome challenges to their growth,” says Amanda.

“I now run a business that enables me to walk my kids to school most days whilst also working with some of the best businesses in the area, large and small, including Montrose Port, Dundee & Angus College, Gillies & Mackay Sheds, AquaTerra, Fotheringham Homes, JDT Services, Flemings Butchers, Ma Yom and The Scullery amongst so many more.”

With the past few years being turbulent due to the pandemic and with the ongoing cost of living crisis, businesses are feeling the squeeze and struggling now more than ever. “We make marketing straightforward so that clients can see clarity through the often overwhelming world of business and achieve their idea of success - their ‘Due North’” explains Amanda. “Marketing has become a jargon fuelled, fast moving industry where it is incredibly easy to become bamboozled. Our job is to make it easy whether that is learning how to market your business yourself or taking care of it for you as an outsourced marketing team.

“We are delighted to have Louise join and contribute her excellent skill set. We have a learning culture here at Due North and encourage our team to expand into other areas that they want to grow their capabilities in so we can’t wait to see where Louise goes with the role.”
