Coaching, Leadership & Beyond Summit

The first Coaching, Leadership and Beyond Summit was held at Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday 17th May.

This highly anticipated event brought together over 30 like-minded individuals and organisations to explore the local business landscape, discover collaborative opportunities and network with a range of coaches and leadership training providers. The one-day event brought together this dynamic group who were supported by some local talent to provide this safe space for learning, growth and opportunity. Bev Gibb Coaching, Jamie McBrearty Coaching, Quest Training and Ashley Petrie Consultancy designed the summit to empower this sector that are passionate about the impact their services deliver.

“The world is suddenly feeling very fast paced and the way we are working has changed. Although being busy is really positive, we are hearing many professionals are feeling isolated and disconnected. Building a community of like-minded individuals with a diverse range of skills and expertise can have a positive impact on personal well-being, professional growth, and overall success, as well as creating a supportive network where professionals can come together, connect, share experiences, and collaborate innovatively, which I feel is a vital aspect of thriving in today’s landscape.” Bev Gibb, Bev Gibb Coaching

Throughout the summit, participants were immersed in an engaging and interactive environment, featuring a range of workshops, group discussion, data gathering and networking opportunities. Set in our very own Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce, the venue added to this inspiring event. The excitement to create a professional community who can share knowledge and skills, provide mentorship and support, enhance the sector’s visibility and explore collaborative opportunities was visibly throughout the day.

Laura Rhoney. COO of the Chamber shared, “We were delighted to host this fantastic summit, the content was critical to so many businesses in the landscape we are in, retaining your talent is key to future growth and ensuring your team have the understanding of real leadership is a must, Ashley, Bev, Jamie and Laura delivered an engaging and insightful look at what could be in our region and we look forward to working with them on future delivery”

Ashley Petrie of Ashley Petrie Consultancy went on to say, “The event organisers are thrilled with the overwhelming success of the summit. The event provided a unique platform for professionals to exchange ideas, gain valuable insights and establish long lasting connections with peers in this sector. We are proud to have created an environment where individuals could share their skills, broaden their perspectives, and ultimately drive personal growth through collaboration.”

This summit demonstrated the commitment to delivering experiences, which support businesses that are facing a wide range of human related challenges. Workplace motivation, confidence, leadership struggles, creative problem solving and adopting a growth mindset were some of the topics explored. This thriving community of talented professionals are keen to work with businesses to tackle these issues and celebrate the powerful forward-thinking businesses that make Dundee and Angus the aspirational place that it is.

“This was a monumental gathering of industry experts who have a desire, track record and appetite to help, support and coach individuals and organisations through the ever-changing world we are all living and working in. Being a coach, business owner or being in a leadership capacity can be extremely lonely and isolating at times, and the vision is to have an inclusive community that can be a tremendous source of support that can help everyone collaborate, design, and create awareness of what is available for businesses to help them grow. It was just so good to meet so many like-minded people who want to make a difference.” Jamie McBrearty, Jamie McBrearty Coaching”

A networking lunch provided the space for this group to meet with other industry leaders. This linked seamlessly into the afternoon workshop sessions run by our morning facilitators.

Well thought out and complementary workshops showcased the way that the coaching and leadership training sector can support businesses. Four practical and thought provoking, fast paced sessions gave businesses a taste of how they can work together to solve common challenges, grow and thrive by embracing the power of investing in themselves and their people.

The attendees fed back with the following comments, “Great selection of activities”, “Great tool for creative exploration of motivation”, “Shared mindset vital to change the culture of an organisation”, ”Really super format for coaching and shared learning”

The energy in the room was tangible and the feedback has been incredible. The facilitators are delighted at the appetite of this group to develop as a collective and actively seek ways to best support our local talent and businesses.

“I loved the way everyone got involved and immersed in the day. Sharing of challenges and brilliant practice was terrific and it was lovely to gauge what is happening in the world of Coaching and Learning and Development.  I am looking forward to seeing where this exciting group goes in the future.” Laura Mason, Quest (Event Organiser)
