Strategic Alliance Announced Between ABL & Integrity HSE

North East-based health and safety consultancy Integrity HSE have taken the next step in their impressive growth journey by signing a strategic partnership with ABL’s ‘Rig Inspection’ division. This collaboration adds an unrivalled HSE inspection service to complement ABL’s existing offerings and promises to catapult both organisations to the forefront of the global rig inspection market.

ABL, a part of ABL Group ASA (publicly listed: Oslo Stock Exchange), are globally recognised as a leading independent energy and marine consultancy across the renewables, maritime and oil & gas sectors. The organisation boasts a workforce of over 1500 personnel based in 300 locations including 62 offices in 39 countries across Europe, Africa, Americas, Middle East, Asia, and Australia.

Over the years, ABL’s Rig Inspection division has earned an enviable international reputation for supplying the best multi-disciplined inspection teams that comprise seasoned marine; electrical; electro-technical; subsea and mechanical engineers. With this partnership in place, ABL will enhance that capability to also include industry leading health, safety, and environment (HSE) professionals.

Martin Clark, ABL’s Rig Inspection Manager (Europe & West Africa) commented that, “Our clients demand the best, and that’s what we provide. They choose ABL because of their absolute trust that we provide the very best inspection services available anywhere in the market. This alliance with Integrity HSE reflects our commitment to continually build on our offering to best serve our clients’ needs”.

Earlier in 2023, ABL conducted a comprehensive market search to identify another organisation with the ability to match their delivery standards within the HSE space. With a brand that represents exacting moral, ethical and technical standards, an unrivalled reputation for client relationships and a pedigree built on consistently outstanding service delivery, Integrity HSE was the only choice.

Darrell Lines, Integrity HSE’s Director of Safety & Risk said, “We are very protective of our brand and wouldn’t normally consider an alliance of this type. But, when we began exploring the potential alignment with ABL, the fit was impossible to ignore. This partnership successfully establishes a new standard of HSE excellence within rig inspection, and we are excited to bring it to the market”.

Integrity HSE will also include human factors (HF) within their inspections with Shabnum Hanif, Integrity HSE Director of Clinical Psychology, overseeing the implementation of a range of Human and Organisation Performance (HOP) analysis. This science-based approach offers game changing performance enhancements for clients by building success friendly and error tolerant systems.

Steven Harris, Integrity HSE’s Managing Director reinforced this by confirming, “I have worked for drilling contractors, rig inspection firms and operators all over the world from Africa to the South Atlantic Ocean. My experience has given me an appreciation of the inspection process from the perspective of the sponsor, auditor, and auditee and I know that we offer something very special”.

From today, Integrity HSE will provide tailored onshore and offshore inspection and rig intake solutions for ABL’s clients on drilling and production units ranging from drill ships, DP and moored semi-submersibles, and jack-up rigs, involving everything from legacy manual operated units to the latest 7th generation cyber integrated control systems. These services will primarily focus on:

General HSE: A range of topics covering all HSE aspects from safe systems of work (such as permit to work) and risk assessment to other critical areas like emergency response and lifting operations. This will ensure client requirements, legislative requirements and best practise are all in place.

Training & Competence (T&C): This will provide a clear picture of T&C status of all the crews that are proposed to be used on applicable operations, including third-party verification of agency personnel, etc. This analysis will include an examination of all T&C related systems and processes.

Dropped Object Prevention (DROPS): All aspects concerning the prevention of dropped objects are examined and balanced against established international standards relating to competencies, inspections, red zones, procedures, and the integration within maintenance management systems.

Environmental Compliance: The installation’s will be measured against all applicable international environmental standards and local legislation, which will also include client’s internal and contractual requirements to ensure the risk of environmental damage meets client expectations.
