Employee volunteering experts Social Good Connect win Young Business of the Year 2021 (Courier Business Awards)

Social enterprise Social Good Connect has won Young Business of the Year in the Courier Business Awards.

The purpose-led business founded by Caroline McKenna also received Highly Commended recognition in the Community Business category, designed to reward more-than-profit groups and businesses who put community at their heart.

Launched six months ahead of schedule during lockdown in May 2020, the Social Good Connect search and match digital platform connects employees in businesses to their ideal volunteering opportunity.

Founder and CEO Caroline recruited her entire 10-strong team in lockdown and hit the ground running as businesses from all over Scotland signed up to help grass roots and large charities and causes across the UK. To date, employees in over 40 committed businesses are helping charities from Tayside Cancer Support, to Care and Share Companionship, ACE IT, The Food Train and many more. Andy Lothian (Insights Group), Danny Campbell (St Andrews Links Trust) and Craig Nicol form the advisory board

“Winning the Young Business award is brilliant. It will help us spread the word and continue to make employee volunteering easy. Our team works closely with businesses who are determined to make a difference to the communities they serve through encouraging their employees to give their time and skills to causes they really care about. I firmly believe that wholeheartedness and giving back are the perfect antidotes to the stresses of a pandemic era, and I hope this recognition helps us engage more businesses and charities to join the movement and collaborate alongside us.” said Caroline Mckenna
